I used Adobe After-Effects to make my Kickstarter video, but what you’re talking about can be done in most any video-editing program like iMovie. I’m afraid I can’t really teach you how to do it, though, as my way of working these programs is “flail around until it works” so that’s not really the best way. I took an animation class in college and learned the basics of After Effects, which is why I’m more comfortable with that program than any other.
